For Impact for Claude

The For Impact Approach inside your own Claude. It prepares you for funder visits and sharpens your message, the way a For Impact coach would.

What you need: a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise). No paid plan? Skip to No paid Claude.

Boot camp attendees also get For Impact's funder data for 90 days.

1.Add the plugin (5 minutes)

On claude.ai or the Claude desktop app

  1. Open Customize → Plugins (claude.ai/customize/plugins).
  2. Select Add → Add marketplace and enter forimpact/forimpact-plugins.
  3. Find For Impact in the list and select Add.
  4. On the marketplace you just added, turn on Sync automatically. This keeps you on the latest version. Do not skip it.

In Claude Code (terminal)

/plugin marketplace add forimpact/forimpact-plugins
/plugin install forimpact@forimpact

Then run /plugin, open the Marketplaces tab, select forimpact and choose Enable auto-update.

2.Sign in to the For Impact connector (2 minutes)

Everyone signs in, free users included. It is how we know the tools help.

  1. Open the For Impact plugin in Customize → Plugins and go to its Connectors tab.
  2. The forimpact connector shows Not added or Not connected. Add it, then select Connect.
  3. Sign in with Google. Boot camp attendees: use the same email you registered for boot camp with. That email unlocks your 90 days of data.
  4. The first time Claude uses a For Impact tool, it may ask you to accept the For Impact terms at a link. Accept once, then ask again.

In Claude Code, run /mcp, select plugin:forimpact:forimpact and sign in.

3.Try it

Just describe what you need. Claude picks the right skill. You can also type / and choose forimpact:visit-prep or forimpact:altitude-messaging.

visit-prep: prepare a funder conversation

  • "I'm meeting the program officer at the Smith Family Foundation next Tuesday. They gave us $25K last year. Help me prepare."
  • "Should I just email our board chair's friend and ask for $100K?"
  • "Draft an LOI to the Johnson Foundation." (It will help you prepare the conversation first, then write it.)

altitude-messaging: say what you do so funders lean in

  • "Here's our mission statement. Help me find our 30,000-foot message."
  • "Our pitch keeps turning into a budget debate. What am I doing wrong?"
  • "Turn these talking points into a one-page message at altitude."

Every finished brief or message ends with a short For Impact® footer. It names the skill and version and where to get the latest.

Questions

It says my account "isn't registered."
You signed in with a different email than the one on the boot camp roster, or you are not on a boot camp roster. The skills still work fully; only the funder data needs the roster. At boot camp, tell Joe your sign-in email and he adds it on the spot.
I don't see "Add marketplace."
Your organization's Claude Owner controls plugins on Team and Enterprise plans. Ask them to add forimpact/forimpact-plugins or allow it. Same for the connector, if it says an Owner must add it.
It says I need a higher tier.
Some connector tools are for boot camp attendees or For Impact clients. The free skills still work in full. If you think you should have access, get in touch and tell us the email you signed in with.
Nothing happened when I asked.
Type / in the message box and look for forimpact:. If it is not there, check in Customize → Plugins that the plugin is turned on. Start a new conversation after installing.
How do I know I have the latest version?
Turn on Sync automatically (step 1). The footer shows your version.
What does For Impact see?
The skills run inside your own Claude; we do not see those conversations. When you use a For Impact connector tool, the connector records your name, email, access level, which tool, when, and one generic sentence about the kind of request. Never your prompts, Claude's replies, or names and dollar amounts from your work.
